About Me
Hello, my name is Daniel Asres and I have worked in the Early Childhood Educational field for over twenty five years. During that time, I have been fortunate to work with children, families, and schools in a variety of socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds and have been a part of deeply transformative and joyfully collaborative work. My work is child-centered, and is focused on creating calm and connectedness through loving boundaries and appropriate attention. The misunderstanding that many of us make is that parenting and teaching is intuitive and should come naturally. Loving children is intuitive…parenting and teaching is a skill. And like any skill, it requires understanding, practice, and a plan. Parenting and teaching does not have to be stressful all the time…let me help you find the joy in the process, and, in doing so, unlock the genius of each!
“Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness;
but direct them to it by what amuses their minds,
so that you may be better able to discover
with accuracy the peculiar bent of the
Genius of Each.”
~ Plato
About Me (cont.)
My perspective in Early Childhood is a unique one in both theory and practice. As a native Los Angeleno born to Ethiopian immigrants, and having worked on the Westside of Los Angeles for the better part of two decades, along with running programs and consulting in Ethiopia for three years, my approach is filled with experiences that have enriched my work. Having been the Director of Little Dolphins Preschool (an elite preschool in Santa Monica) for a 7 year stretch, being a man in Early Childhood, and having an Ethiopian and Black American cultural background, further differentiates my approach and gives me an opportunity to see things from different perspectives. Ultimately, I am focused on ensuring that every individual I work with feels secure, heard, valued, and is given tools to address what may be disrupting their success!
